At an age when most graffiti writers are either retired from vandalism or dead from huffing fumes, Dr. Kenneth C. Hopper is just hitting his stride. The 70-year-old opthalmologist was arrested in Warren County, about 60 miles north of Albany, for spraypainting “ROWLOW” on an overpass. Hopper claims he simply finds the word “intriguing,” but another doctor, Frank Rollo, believes Hopper has been targeting him with the graffiti for 15 years, following a longstanding personal dispute.

FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES NEW LICENSEE

The LEGO Group and Brickstructures, Inc. to produce and distribute Frank Lloyd Wright Collection® LEGO® Architecture Building Sets

The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation announced today that The LEGO Group is now the exclusive licensed manufacturer of Frank Lloyd Wright Collection® LEGO Architecture sets.

The LEGO Group and Adam Reed Tucker of Brickstructures, Inc. officially introduced the LEGO Architecture line in 2008. The line currently consists of six buildings – now including two of Frank Lloyd Wright’s most famous and recognizable buildings, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and “Fallingwater.”

With models developed in collaboration with architects, LEGO Architecture works to inspire future architects, engineers and designers as well as architecture fans around the world with the LEGO brick as a medium. Builders of all ages can now collect and construct their favorite worldwide architectural sites through these artistic replicas.

Both exclusive Frank Lloyd Wright LEGO Architecture sets contain booklets that feature traditional building instructions along with exclusive archival historical material and photographs of each iconic building.

The LEGO Group will release the first of the LEGO Architecture Frank Lloyd Wright Collection® sets at the opening of the Frank Lloyd Wright Exhibit: From Within Outward at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum on May 15, 2009.

Another exciting aspect of the Architecture Series is the capability to use them for education, team building, or other formats that make the LEGO Architecture series more than just a toy.

new airports, new highways, new buildings, cleaner skies.

this is rejuvenation. although i never really feel “at home” here, i never really feel “at home” in canada either. negotiating my identity in both countries is a mixed bag but damn it feels rejuvenating to be here among people who look like me, and of course, with my brother who i love and miss.

we went to “hui hua” district, which is kind of like a bar/club/loungey touristy area. i remember partying there three years ago and it was nice to see some stability in a country that changes every single day. met some new people, relaxed, drank some (cold*) tsingtao, had a great time.

in 2 hours i’m off to catch a train out to the “country”, a scenic spot called Shidu, which is known as the Guilin of the north. i loved guilin so i’m excited to plant my ass in a chair, take in the scenery and relax.

* according to chinese traditional medicine, things that are too “cold” are disruptive to one’s chi. that means lukewarm/room temp beverages on the hottest of days. NOT okay! shows how much of a jook sing i am.

subway art is being re-released in large format with additional images. can’t wait to get my hands on this. paint streets!
